Lend a Hand

Support volunteers help LTWC in countless ways. They make our fundraisers possible. They help us prepare animal enclosures for our peak season each spring, then help us winterize them again in the fall. They assist with everything from heavy-lifting to stamp-licking.

Care for Wildlife

LTWC wildlife volunteers help feed, care for, transport and release the wild birds and animals that LTWC receives. Before working with directly with wildlife, volunteers must first complete our annual two-day training seminar. The seminar teaches wildlife diets, feeding techniques, housing, first aid, capture and transportation, anatomy and examination, and more — all the training volunteers need to help care for the birds and animals at LTWC.

How you helpVolunteers are crucial to LTWC’s work, and the value of their time and dedication is immeasurable. They help feed and care for the animals staying with us, assist with animal transport and releases, pitch in with fundraisers and events, donate special skills and services and keep our facility running.
About usFrom a handful of people in 1978 with an idea to help wildlife in their area, LTWC has grown to an organization that now provides a service to more than nine counties in California and Nevada surrounding the Lake Tahoe region. Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care is an independent, nonprofit volunteer organization that relies on help from its supporters. Every orphaned animal we raise, every injured animal we rehabilitate, every healthy animal we release back to the wild.
